Our Vineyard and Gardens,

 

We have three and half hectares planted in grapes here at Ascension. The grape varieties that we grow are Malbec, Pinotage, Flora, Viognier, Tannat and Chardonnay. Planted in 1996 our vineyard is young by world standards but we were one of the first vineyards planted in the Matakana region. We have a selcetion of new and old grape varieties planted onsite. We believe in doing things the old European way, so you will find very little machinery here, everything possible is done by hand by our dedicated vineyard team including bud rubbing, picking and pruning. We also dry farm our vineyard, you will find no irrigation hoses here, this means that each years vintage is unique. It like a years worth of weather and has been put in glass for you. 

 

We welcome our visitors to walk amongst the vines and enjoy this peaceful setting, we can also arrange tours and wine tastings for our customers,
